My Story
Jacob Francis is a student from Alberta, Canada. He grew up on a farm in the rural areas outside of Edmonton. He took an interest in Game Design in the 7th grade after taking a 2d platformer course through his school. Through highscool, Jacob would often sit with his close group of friends and talk about video game ideas, and would work on prototypes using Gamemaker 8.1 and RPGMaker engines. After highschool he moved to British Columbia, Canada. In 2015 him and his father went to tour Valve in Bellevue, Washington. There he learned about the amount of time and people required to make the games that he loved, which further cemented his desire to work in the games industry. Shortly after this, he released Silentium 2D, a simple arcade-like arena game on Steam. Since that release, he only grew more passionate about games. After working in a retail job for 2 years, Jacob decided to take the leap and fully commit himself to learning the trade and the intricacies of making games through the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts' Game Art and Design Program.
